Month: October 2017

Hello lovelies!!! I hope you all are having the best weekend so far!! I am writing today because I have some major news to share with you all: XOXO, Kyia Dante has been chosen as a winner of the Blogger Recongition Award and I could not be anymore excited that I am right now!!! This blog has been my child for the past two years and even though I have given up on it time and time again because of life changes and just pure frustration that I wasn’t good enough to even have my own fashion blog, I am so proud that I decided to give blogging another try. I still can’t believe that I have been this honor after just four months of blogging and I want to thank every person that reads the blog and/or follows the blog on social media. I have so much love and respect for every person that has given this blog even just a small look, and to receive this award means so much to me!

For those of you who might be asking what the Blogger Recognition Award is, I was about to let you in on just that! So essentially, the Blogger Recongition Award is an Award given to bloggers from bloggers to recognize their hard work as a blogger. Honestly, it isn’t always to be a blogger and maintain a blog, so this award is a great way to congratulate bloggers on all the time and work that they put into crafting their blog and making it enjoyable for their work.

I was nominated for this special award by one of the most stylish fashionistas that I have connected with through blogging named Sudanny! She is the author and creator of Your Girl Sudanny, which is a fashion, travel, and lifestyle blog. Seriously, y’all, her style is so amazing and I am obsessed with her fashion feeds on Instagram! Soooooooo a special shoutout to Sudanny for nominating me for this Award! Thank you so much again Pretty Girl!!!

I started XOXO, Kyia Dante in October 2015 as sort of a escape from my mundane life at the time. I was working at Dress Barn and had really liked it, but I wanted to do something creative outside of selling clothes and styling. I loved fashion so much that I wanted to do something creative within the fashion world and I started researching the world of blogging since I also love to write (I had always gotten good grades on the papers that I would write for high school and college). So from there, I started XOXO, Kyia Dante and it’s been my child since then. Fashion has always been my passion and I have always loved developing my own sense of style, reading fashion magazines, and working in clothing stores to gain as much experience as I could in the fashion industry.

Another reason that I decided to start my own fashion blog was to help me get out of my comfort zone. I have always been afraid of what other people think of me and I am overall a pretty self-conscious person. I got teased a lot in high school because of the clothes that I wore and the fact that I have a skinny figure. For me, this blog is my message to other girls who think that they aren’t good enough that they can do anything that they put their minds to. I am making myself stop focusing so much on what other people think and do what makes me happy. I am not a model or the prettiest girl in the world, so I still get self-conscious about putting pictures of myself for people around to see and judge. However, this blog has been one of the best ways to motivate myself that I don’t have to listen to the negative things that people say or think about me. I can make it and hopefully inspire girls around the world with going after the things that I want in my life, despite any obstacles.

***Do not expect anything****- I have learned this the hard way. One really big misconception about blogging is that it’s easy and you will be an overnight success doing it. First of all, blogging is not and is no way easy. Blogging is a pretty saturated market because there are so many bloggers in the world, which means endless competition that makes it easy to get discouraged quickly if you don’t see immediate results. There are very few, if any, bloggers who have made a success from blogging overnight. I fell into to the trap of thinking that blogging was going to be a breeze and I was going to start getting PR packages and such quickly in the beginning and I 100% regret that this thinking pattern. Success will come in due time as I have and am still learning. So don’t expect success to come quickly because that may not always be the case.

***JUST DO IT ALREADY!!!!****-If you are hesitant at all for any reason about starting a blog, but you really want to do it, then DO IT!!! Jump into blogging with both feet because I promise you that you will thank yourself later. Life is too short to spend it not doing the things that you want to do when you want to do them. Take the risk of potentially not seeing the results you wanted because at the end of the day it will be more than worth it. I failed at blogging twice and then just decided that I would it another shot and I am so happy that I did. If I wouldn’t have gotten back into it, I wouldn’t have met the encouraging blogging community that I have now and I wouldn’t have the opportunities to work with brands that I do now!
